frequently asked questions

What can I expect from the first session?
Your first session with me is to talk about how counselling may be able to help you. It is also important to establish whether we would feel comfortable working together. The introductory 30-minute session with me is free.

How much do sessions cost?
Sessions cost £45. I offer a discount for counsellors in training.

How long is a session?
Each session lasts for 50 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different and it is up to you how many sessions you have. If you do decide I am the right counsellor for you, I suggest a minimum of 6 as well as a final session, to establish a healthy ending to the process.

How often are sessions?
In order for therapy to be as effective as possible, sessions with me should be weekly, or fortnightly. Regular contact and establishing a routine helps enormously with healing.

Will what I say be kept confidential?
A relationship of trust between the client and counsellor is at the heart of my practice. You can rest assured that I will keep anything you disclose to me completely confidential. The only exception to this is if I think you or someone else is at risk of immediate harm - but I would discuss this with you first.

Can I cancel a session?
I understand circumstances may change, so I accept cancellations with more than 48 hours' notice. I ask that you pay the full fee for any cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance.

How and when do I pay you?
Payment is due at the time of the session - you can pay in cash, or via bank transfer/PayPal.

You may have other questions - please feel free to contact me.
